L'ultima Nassa (The Last Catch)
Short documentary, 7' - 2026 | Audio: Italian | Subtitles: English
In Pescara, on Italy's Adriatic coast, fishing has been passed down from generation to generation. For Erminio Camplone, becoming a fisherman was never simply a career choice but a calling rooted in family history, personal identity, and a deep connection to the sea.
Through his reflections, the film traces the transformation of a profession once associated with independence and opportunity into one facing uncertainty and decline. As fishing boats disappear from the harbor and younger generations look elsewhere for their future, a way of life that has shaped coastal communities for decades finds itself at a crossroads.
The Last Catch is an intimate portrait of a fisherman navigating the tension between tradition and change, asking what is lost when local knowledge, livelihoods, and connections to place begin to disappear.
